After a few days of really excellent weather in Belfast, Rusty, Oisin and I decided to head to the mournes for a quick walk, starting at Meelmore Lodge.
While there was still a chill to the air, the clear sky and constant sun was a welcome lift to the spirits, even if the constant haze posed something of a challenge when it came to getting good photos.
Oisin and I both wore our Montane Medusa packs and found them to be the epitome of comfort for lighter trips. The back support is just right in terms of rigidity and the profile is narrow enough to keep your balance relatively unaffected.
Compared to my Vango Sherpa, even when bearing equal weight, the Medusa’s slimmer profile really helps keep the center of gravity where it should be.
Here’s a gratuitous action shot of Oisin the Montane Man Patenall:
There were some interesting sights along the way, such as this rusty container, which we felt would make an amazing gear cache were it our own:
It was a great day out and a really refreshing way to start the day before a night shift, hopefully the first of many great adventures in the good weather to come!
