Trip Report 103
Overnight Camp in Springwell Forest
We were leaving the forest car park just as the Autumnal sun was beginning to set, and its golden light cast over every tree we could see before us. It was a beautiful sight, and a very pleasant start to our first camp of the Autumn. Up until now our September has been very mild, […]
Follow the leader

A hot day on Knockshee
As I lay down in the bath, I remembered Spud’s words, “death by a thousand cuts” and he was spot on! In recent weeks the Irish September weather has been fantastic and I’ve been very fortunate that I’ve been hiking every few days! Thursday’s weather forecast gave it to be a cracker and Spud and […]
Kilfeagan Dolmen Circular Route
John enjoyed an enchanting walk with a friend, taking in some spectacular ancient ruins in the process.
A Mourne Gem
John had a great day's hike in the outer Mournes, there were plenty of new features to discover.

In Plane View – The Newcastle Airshow
John, Spud and Catriona headed to the high Mournes for a review of the Newcastle airshow. They weren't disappointed!
Heavy rain with a chance of drizzle
The luxurious green carpet of moss covered the forest floor as far as the eye could see, which to be honest, wasn’t that far, due to the limited visibility. The thick green moss covered the bases of the dark conifers, jammed tightly together into this small patch of hill, silently sucking at their rain sodden […]
From sunshine to storm
Ed and John enjoyed a relaxing camp in the western Mournes followed by a hike up Annalong Valley. The weather went from roasting sunshine to a thunderstorm and back again and the views were spectacular along the way.
