Sunset Ascent of Pigeon Rock
John was joined by Spud and his wife Catriona for a hike in the Western Mournes. They planned a route to Tollymore when the beginnings of a golden sunset tempted them up Pigeon rock for the view - and they weren't disappointed.
Millstone Mountain Microadventure
Ed and John headed to the Mourne Mountains for a quick camp after work. The weather may have been misty but it was still great to get out and breathe the fresh (if somewhat humid) air!
Chimney rock loop
John joined Spud and his brother on a full day of blistering heat in the Mourne Mountains. We rarely see weather like this but when we do the views are spectacular!
Summer sun at Loughshannagh
We had been experiencing extraordinarily good weather throughout the month of June and on the first day of July, the summer weather was just too good not to take advantage of. After mistakenly getting locked out of the car, we were on our way towards the Mourne Mountains in County Down, enjoying the summer weather […]
A Mourne Trio
A beautiful day in the Mourne Mountains. Three peaks and Magnificent views. John shares his thoughts on an energising day in the Mourne's with Spud.

Off the beaten track
Spud's writeup of a beautiful day of hiking in the Mournes, heading to Slieve Commedagh via Shanslieve. Clear skies, sweeping vistas and the welcome sight of much needed repairs on the iconic Commedagh summit shelter.
Running The Mourne Wall
When I see the Mourne Wall it just screams ‘walk me’ and in October 2013 I did just that in 8hr 45 minutes. I walked it in a clockwise manner starting from Carricklittle car park, and I definitely learned a few lessons in doing so.
The North Sperrins Way
The heather in front of me suddenly exploded in a fat blur of feathers, the grouse whirring away from the intruder who had disturbed it from its heathery roost. I uttered a breathless expletive, but it was lost on the hard wind blowing across the seemingly barren heathland. I watched the bird glide away quickly […]
